PORTUGAL'S WORRIES. I Germs of Revolution at Home And at Madeira. I TRANSPORTS TOR ISLANDS. I (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph— Copyright) — , (Received 2 p.m.) LONDON", April 10. Messages from reliable sources indicate that the Portuguese Government is at present more concerned over affairs in Lisbon than in Madeira. A fresh revolutionary movement is afoot and the Cabinet, with the Presi-dent;-General Carmoua, is frequently in session. Many arrests have been made in the barracks of machine-gun regiments. At Lisbon numbers of soldiers have been imprisoned and armoured cars are patrolling the streets. Two transports of the punitive expeditionary force quietly slipped out to Madeira, but there are suggestions that they may be recalled in the event of adverse developments in Portugal.' The Government persists in the statement that all is quiet throughout the country, but the British United Press correspondent says troops are concentrating at strategic points.
Eour aeroplanes were to encircle Funchal and the pilots were to drop leaflets to inform the people that all was quiet in Portugal and there was no need for a revolt.
