OIL FROM COAL.
SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, April 10. The recent announcement ofHhe formation of an international company, holding the patents and interests of several leading companies in hydrogenaton processes for producing oil from coal, gives point to references to the technical progress in these processes made by Sir Harry McGowan, as chairman, at the annual meeting of Imperial Chemical Industries, Limited. This is one of the companies concerned. Sir Harry stated that research had led to striking developments, and the experimental unit had produced, with no appreciable loss, petrol having antiknock qualities equal to the finest grades now on the market. The pooling of the resources of leading ■world groups is bound to be of great commercial importance in future years.
