"IRON MAIDEN" MENACED.
The famous medieval "lion Maiden, ! which was built secretly in 1807 and ever since has been shown as an ex* ample ,of the barbarity of the Middle Ages to thousands of tourists visiting Nurnberg's "historic" castle, may be removed before the summer by order of the authorities, it is learned. The interior of the "Iron Maiden" i» lined with long spikes and according to the guide story unfortunate prisoners placed inside suffered a horrible death when the two halves closed together. Experts have known for twenty years that the "Iron Maiden" was a tin fake, but she continued to make a small fortune yearly for her owner. The fee for viewing this marvel is Old. At the height of the tourist season as many as 2000 daily are admitted to see it.
