COURSING.

I was extremely sorry to see an advertisement for 200 live hares for purposes. Apart from the effect such .sights as coursing after live animals has upon the spectators, is this pastime allowable, if we honourably discharge the duties of our God-given trusteeship, of wild life? Picture the promoters of this sport in the position of the hare with a mad dog or dogs giving chase, the _ onlookers spurring on the dogs and making bets a* how soon they will be reduced to a ni&«» of torn and quivering flesh. No possible can be obtained from such a gruesome sight/neither can there be any good gained from causing suffering to animals. I sincerely trust such a blot on the name of sport will go no further for the good name of New Zealand's man and womanhood. s: BRITISH HUMANITY. ,
