FORESTERS ASSOCIATION.

The annual meeting of the Auckland Friendly Societies' Indoor Bowling Association will be held on Saturday evening next in the Trades Hall, Hobson Street. The growth of indOor bowling as a "winter pastime has been phenomenal, and although 1930 was a record year, there is every indication that 1931 -will see even greater progress made, for the public green has stimulated interest dilring the summer recess.

The annual meeting of the Orange Bowling Association was held in the Orange Hall on Monday evening. Bro. F. A. Harris presided Over an enthusiastic meeting. The balance-sheet showed a healthy balance and it" was decided owing to the increasing Membership to hold this year's practices in a.lanrger hall, and in future practices will be held in the large Orange Hall, top of Newton Road. The opening night will be on Tuesday next and all indoor bowlers, members and friends are invited. All names should be in by 7.45 p.m. to enable the draw to be made promptly. Ten rinks will. be available. , • . The following officers were elected: —President, Bro. Frank A. Harris; vice-presi-dents, Sister Miller and Bros. H. Bolton and J. Rattray; secretary and treasurer, Mrs. L.. Boles; assistant secretary, Mrs. A. B. Stein; management committee,, officers, ex officio and Sisters Kayes No. 2, Young No. 51, rep. No. 18, Bros J. Speir No. 1, rep. No. 10, J. Mansell No. 70, L. S. Francis No. 102.

The Ancient Order Foresters' Bowling Association held their first tourney for 1931 on Saturday, March 21 and 28. Twelve full rinks were entered. The management engaged the Little Green, in Little Queen Street,.: for the occasion, and the ideal conditions made a very high standard of play possible Three teams tied with 8 wins, and in the play off Court Victoria A (Bros: Cliffe, I. Williams, J. Sharpe, T. Sullivan) 9,, v. Court Victoria B (Bros. Hamlin, Hoverd, Spinley, Strude) 4, and also beat City of Auckland A (Bros. Scott, Withers, McAheany, W. Drew) by 12 to 10. The semi-final resulted in City of Auckland A (Drew) beating Victoria B (Strude) by. 8 to 4. ' The detailed scores were:—Victoria A, City of Auckland A, Victoria B, each 16 points; Henderson, 14; City of Auckland B and Nil Desperandum, 12; Zealandia and Balmoral, 8; Swansop, 5 ; Ellerslle, 2 ; City of Auckland C, 1 _ The pairs tourney will be held on Saturday, April 18, and May 2. Entries close on Wednesday, April 15, with the secretary, Bro. h. Spinley, or president, W. L. Rowland.
