STABLE AND TRACK NOTES.
A FIRST APPEARANCE. Mr. L. McKcnzie's two-year-old Child's Study was making his first appearance when lie raced at the recent Wairarapa meeting, yet ho ran two good races. He is a half-brother by Psychology to Royal Parade, and should develop into a "useful galloper. CAST IN HIS BOX. Royal Parade will be unable to race for some time, owing to injuries received through being cast in his box. He was very well, and it'is unfortunate for his owner, Mr. L. McKenzie, that the mishap should have happened just before the Easter meetings. SHOULD GO WELL. Although not engaged on the first day at Avondale, Prince Lu is entered for the hurdle race on the concluding day, and if started he should make a good showing. |He ran a good race in the Brighton Hurdles and will be meeting a weaker class on this occasion. ONE OF HIS BEST EFFORTS, • Orapai, who has recently done all his racing in hack company, put up one of his best performances when he won the Mangaone Handicap at Feilding. This three-year-old has always shown great speed in his races, and if he remains sound should make a first-class sprinter next season. BROKEN DOWN BADLY. The Southern hurdler Goblin Market, who has won several hurdle races since being in J. Fryer's stable, broke down badly at the Feilding meeting and his case is stated to be a hopeless one. Goblin Market, who is a half-brother to that good performer Mandane, was purchased as a yearling by Mr. G. D. Greenwood and carried his colours during his early racing and for that sportsman won the C.J.C. Middle Park Plate, besides other races. - STREPHON'S NEXT ENGAGEMENT.
Strephon 11. is stmong the 37 entrants for the Newbury Spring Cup, run on April 11, but referring to Mr. Green's horse, London "Sporting Life" says that it is unlikely that the Australian horse will be saddled up for the race. The English handicappers are not taking risks with Strephon 11. He is well up ih the weights for the City and Suburban Handicap, one mile and a quarter, at Epsom, on April 22$""having the third highest weight, 9.3, but again the suggestion overseas is "nothing doing" until later on. ENGAGED ON SECOND DAY. The Marble Arch gelding Tenakoe, alhough not paid up for at Avondale today, is engaged in the Waitakerei Handicap on Wednesday next. He ran second . to Prince of Orange in this event twelve months, ago, and since then Won the Kihikihi Handicap, seven furlongs, at Te AwamUtu, and in his next effort accounted for the Glasgow Handicap, of similar distance, at Ellerslie. Tenakoe ■ failed to show up at Te Aroha or at Ellerslie on Monday, but if he races up ( , to the form he displayed during the summer he should make another bold bid for victory.- ; •-I
