WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.
TE UKU. The.usual monthly meeting of the Te Uku Women's Institute was held at Mrs. Harvey Wright's residence. After the business was finished an interesting tinle was spent in seeing the wonderful, collection of curios that Mr. Wright has gathered together. Later, a competition, arranged by Mrs. Dodd, was won by Mrs. Featherstonhaugh, -with Miss Fea» therstonhaugh second. Mesdames Bronn'ch ajnd Robinson were hostesses. Before leaving, a vote of. thanks was passed to Mrs. Wright.
WAIMANA-NUKTJHOU. • Mrs. Savage presided at the monthly meeting of the Waimana-Nukuhou Women's Institute, when Miss Spencer and Mrs. Wette'nhall were present. Miss Spencer gave an interesting address on the aims of the newly-formed Bay of Plenty Federation. -Mesdames Black, Bell and Savage read papers dealing with life in Waimana at the time when they first settled in the district. 'These papers were much appreciated, and at jMlss Spencer's suggestion they are to be filed for future reference. Liter in the afternoon specimens of handiwork were displayed by Miss Spencer, who also demonstrated, the spinning of "wool. Mrs. Burnett was responsible for the competition, "The Menu/' which was won by Mrs. Woolfiek}. Afternoon-tea was dispensed by the hostesses, Mesdames Savage, Sinalley and Lammas. ;
