AREA ACQUIRED FOR FIVE YEARS, i V* £- ~ } \ ,■' '• ' Advice has been, received in Auckland by the New Zealand Rugby League that its tender for the lease of the fine new playing stadium in Wellington has been accepted by the Wellington Show Association (incorporated). - "This," said the secretary of the New. Zealand Councillor the league to-day, "is one <*f the most important moves for. national progress in the game that has, been accomplished, and I am sure .that well-wishers and players of the code will be delighted, to hear that thisfiiie; centrally situated ground will present /the opportunity needed for an official playing area in Wellington. The acceptance of our tender not only represents a gesture of good will from influential interests in the papital province, but is. a tribute to the efforts of Rugby League club's and officials in Wellington who have co-operated enthusiastically with the council to bring this matter to a satisfactory finality."The lease of the Wellington showgrounds, .which are almost as near the city as Carlaw Park is in Auckland, is for five years. ■*. Grounds in New Zealand now* under Rugby League ownership are: Cassil Park (Whangarei), Carlaw Park (Auckland), Wingham Park (West Coast), Monica .Park (Cliristchurch), and the new. park at Dunedin. Grounds held under favourable leases are the Cale-, donian ground (Dunedin) and now the 1 showgrounds at Wellington/
