FURTHER CHECK.

DECLINE OF PRICES. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, April 9. A further check to the rate of decline in wholesale priccs as measured by the Board of Trade is shown by the index number for March. The index is returned at 63.7, showing a fall of only 0.3 per cent from February. This is the smallest monthly percentage decline recorded by the Board of Trade since the downward movement began in October, 1929, and follows on the previous smallest fall recorded last month of O.G per cent. There has been a fall of 15 per cent since March of last year. The figures suggest that the downward movement of wholesale prices, which has been a marked feature of the world economic crisis, may be nearing its end and that the upward trend to which economists look for reviving enterprise and stimulating industry may be within sight.
