Cermak for the Mayoralty of the city the "Chicago Tribune" says: "It is an unpleasant business catch a skunk, but one does it.. However, for Chicago Mr. Thompson has meant filth, corruption, obscenity, idiocy and bankruptcy. He has given the city an international reputation for moronic buffoonery, barbaric -crime, triumphant lioodlumism, unchecked graft and dejected citizenship. "He nearly ruined the property of the city and completely destroyed its pride. He made Chicago a by-word for the collapse of American civilisation."
