(Received 9.30 a.m.) CALCUTTA, April 7.. . The recent Cawnpore rioting, which was far worse than was at reported, has created a tense atmoephere between Hindus and Moslems. ,:,;;,.• .:•■>. >
Gandhi declares his-readiness to advise the Hindus to concede to practically all the Moslem demands for joint electorates in the new ConstitutionJf. the community should become united. The European view favours separate electorates as the best guarantee of peace.
MAGISTRATE SHOT.
ATTACK AT INDIAN SCHOOL,
(Received 10.30 a.m.)
DELHI, April 7
Mr. James Peddie, a magistrate at Midnapore, was wounded five times with revolver shots. He was visiting a school in Midnapore when the outrage occurred. No arrests have yet been made.
