BUDGETITES MAKE SUGGESTIONS.
LAST WEEK'S COMPETITION PROVES POPULAR,
NOVEL COMPETITION FOR THIS WEEK,
Dear Boys and Girls, — Budgetites were quite enthusiastic about last week's competition, when they were required to write a paragraph or two about their favourite competition. Many new puzzles were suggested and quite a few were resurrected from pages that were printed when the Budget baby was indeed very young. The first prize of 7/6 was awarded to Charles Taylor, our 0.5.8. member of Waikiekie. His was a most original suggestion and the competition should be of interest to all Budgetites. Another very good suggestion for a competition came from Doris Brown, Stratford, and for her effort she was awarded the second prize. Enid Watkins' entry would prove of exceptional interest to the artist, for she suggests that we should offer a prize for the best designed letter such as may be seen in the handprinted manuscripts of the monks of the middle ages. The fourth prize was awarded to Dudley Cole for a competition in which entrants were to build up a sensible paragraph using the letters of their own names. All the entries received seemed to contain something helpful; it seemed that each competitor wanted to tell me about his or her favourite competition, not in the hope of winning a prize, but in the hope that the competition would be conducted in these columns and be of interest to other Budgetites. £!FS The competition which is arranged for to-day was .suggested by Charles Taylor, and I am sure that this will be of interest to all Budgetites. %^^"*^
