OBITUARY.
MR. JAMES MORELL METCALFE.'
The death occurred on April 5 of Mr. James Morell metcalfe, aged 80 years, who came to New Zealand in 1803, at the age of 13. His parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Metcalfe, were given a Crown grant on the Upper Pahi River, but later moved to Matakohe, where they secured the well-known "Clairmont" property. Mr. and Mrs. Metcalfe, sen., returned to England in 1873, but the late Mr. J. M. Metcalfe continued to farm the "Clairmont" estate until he retired to live in Matakohe township 15 years ago. In 1873 Mr. Metcalfe was married to Miss Bessie Warner. He is survived by Mr. Ernest Metcalfe, Te Kawa, Te Awamutu, Mr. Charles Metcalfe, Waitakere, and Messrs. Edward, Herbert, Frank and Archie Metcalfe, Matakohe.
