EASTER BOWLING.

THE AUCKLAND TOURNEY.

POST-SECTION PLAY.

RAIN CAUSES POSTPONEMENT

The post-section play in the Auckland Centre's Easter tournament was commenced this morning on the Carlton green, when two matches were played in the eliminating matches 'of the Easter fours, in order to reduce the rinks to eight. Following are the results: Cave, Hull, Gatenby, Miller (Mount Eden) 17, v. Isaacs. Brittain, Bird, Carter (Carlton) 14; Short, Hill, Macfarlane, Russell (Remuera) 19, v. S. White, P. White, NQrris, Wright (St. Helier's) 10. The skip of the Mount Eden rink dominated his game, receiving very fair support from the members of his team. This was borne out by the fact that Carter had to burn four heads,' being fortunately right on his drive. HeJjurnt the last head when he was lying two down, and on the replay Brittain and Bird each gave him a counter to lie the tie, but Miller got inside them with his first boyvl for shot, and Carter missed both drives.

The Russell team were all playing too well for St. Helier's, and led fairly comfortably all the way. The green suited Russell admirably, arid he was generally able to save wh/.n the head was against him. 1 A striking feature of th?. Easter fours is that four of the ten rinks that qualified belong to the Auckland Club, and three of the four skips are the very three who survived until the third day of the singles championship in the recent Dominion tournament.

Further play was abandoned this afternoon, heavy rain setting in after an hour's play. By that time, in the Executive Fours, seven heads had been played and Keatley (Rocky Nook) was 8 to 3 against Philip (St. Helier's).
