'PLANE SOMERSAULTS.

MISHAP AT WANGANUI.

FAULTY LANDING MADE.

PILOT ESCAPES INJURY.

(By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.")

WANGANUI, this day.

A pilot named Buchanan, of Wairarapa, who had just obtained his pilot's license, had a narrow escape from injury when landing in a Moth aeroplane at the Wangaiiui airport yesterday.

He attempted to land in a cross wind, apparently, not observing the signals. The machine bumped three times and then somersaulted a few feet away from the fire signal. Benzine sputtered over the engine, but did not ignite. Buchanan was not hurt.
