PRESENTATIONS TO CRICKETERS
Prior to itheir departure with the -New Zealand cricket team opportunity was taken last evening to make presentations to G. L. Weir and A. M. Matheson by the Grammar Old Boys' Association (Mount Eden School) and Grammar Old Boyß' Rugby Football Club. The chair was occupied iby Mr. A. St. C. Belcher, who wished both players bon voyage and a successful tour. On Ibehalf of the association Mr. E. Davis presented Matheson with a set of gold etuds and links and a gold pencil. In speaking, Mr, Davie said he had seen the New Zealand t&um at Home on its last visit and he hoped to have ithe same pleasure this season. He, like other old boys, felt the school ha/1 .been honoured, and that the selected players deserved the honour. On behalf of the football club the chairman presented Weir with a set of gold links and studs, gold fountain pen and pencil and a de luxe shaving outfit, and Matheson with a cabin trunk and. suit case. The speaker referred to the fact that the recipients had gained representative honours in both Rugby and cricket, and the careers of both would be keenly watched at Home. The recipients suitably replied and expressed their thanks for, not only the gifts, but also for the thoughts behind them. Mr. Harry Frost, chairman of the A.R.F.U., also congratulated the guests and wished them, on behalf of Rugby football, the very best of good luck during the tour.
