WORK AT ELLERSLIE.

THIS MORNINGS GALLOPS.

GOLD MONEY IMPRESSES.

Showery weather prevailed for training work, at Ellerslie this morning, but the going was in good order. The course proper, with the poles 45ft out from the rails, was available for fast work, and also the No. 3 grass track, the former* being in most demand.

The Course Proper. Gold Money was first out, being sent over a mile, which she ran in 1.44 3-5, the first half taking 50 3-ss. She carried a light boy, but worked impressively. Grand Spirit and Howick were cent over a similar distance, running the first half-mile in 52 4-ss, and the full distance in 1.48. Grand Spirit was doing best at the finish. After running half a mile on. No. 3 grass, Corinax and Rafflight were companions over seven fnrlongs on the course proper, and completed their task in 1.32 4-5. Both horses worked well. Patutahi was doing better than Kouranui at the end of a mile, which took 1.48 2-5. The former has shown fair form on the country circuit, and now that the going is becoming more yielding should again show to advantage shortly. Gold Lily was timed to run the last six furlongs of her work in 1.19 3-5. Te Money completed a seven-furlong task in 1.37 4-5, doing it comfortably. Eager Rose jumped off at the mile post, and after taking 53s to run the first halfmile, completed her task in 1.47 2-5. This mare is working exceptionally well at present. , Tambourine strode over seven furlongs in 1.41, but could have done much better. Praetor and Lotterie got to the end of half a mile in 525. United was too good for Tatyoon over half a mile in 51 3-ss. United shaped well, and should show up in his early engagements. Foot Rule was sent six furlongs, taking 39s for the first three, and finished up her work in 1.21 1-5. Catoma strode over six furlongs in 1.24 4-5, and Operatic was timed to run seven furlongs in 1.33. Hannibal jumped off at the sevenfurlong post, and after running the first four furlongs in 51s, got to the end of seven furlongs in 1.33. Gay Cockade cantered round to the halfmile post, and sprinted home in 52 4-ss. Werata was too good for Bizarro while traversing seven furlongs in 1.34 1-5.

No. 3 Grass. Stimulant, carrying a light boy, ran six furlongs in 1.16 3-5. His rider was unabla to pull liim up at the finish, and he traversed another'round. Bonny Mumble and Hawthorn were not hurried while running five furlongs, which took 1.11 4-5. Silent Miss was timed to run the last half-mile of her work in 55 2-ss. This ! filly is on the improve. Neil and Semi-circle were about cn terms after running six furlongs in 1.23 3-5. Dark Prince, who has done well since he raced at Paeroa, traversed a round in 1.48 2-5, and King Swift covered a similar distance in 1.46. Manawhenua was going easily to register 1.38 for seven furlongs, and Hampton Park ran half a mile in 535. Gay Idea completed a round in 1.45 1-5, the last six furlongs taking 1.22 4-5. General Lu (R. Watson) gave a safe display over four schooling hurdles.

ARRIVALS. Eastertime, Lady Quex, Peter Jackson, Airtight and Bright Glow arrived this morning to fulfil engagements at the Auckland meeting.

SCRATCHINGS. Pompeius was scratched for the Brighton Hurdles at 9 a.m., and Sir Mond for the President's Handicap at 11.5 a.m. to-day.
