OMAHUTA FOREST FIRE

XO CAUSE FOR ALARM.

Despite a fresh outbreak of fire on Sunday evening in the Omahuta btate Forest"; Hokianga County, the kauri is still considered to he in no danger. Mr. C Biegs, assistant conservator of forest?, said last evening that the fresh outbreak gave no cause for alarm. \ fresh firebreak has been cut n the path of the new fire, and it is considered that this will be sufficient to check the flame-. A. fresh firebreak has been cut in the morrow, ami his place will be taken by Mr. .H. S. Whitehorn, another forestry officer, who left, for the north this mornin<r. Mr. R. D. Campbell, conservator of forests at Auckland, will visit the area during the week-end. He will inspect the 0000 acres which have been burned, and consider the question of early settlement to take advantage of the burn.
