PROTESTS IN INDIA.
Congress Aroused by Rejection Of Murderers' Appeal.

DELHI, March 23.
The Lahore High Court has rejected the appeal of Bhagat Singh and Rajguru and Sukhdev against the sentence of death in connection with the murder last year of a police officer at Lahore. The men are likely to be executed to-morrow morning. The failure of the efforts to obtain commutation of the death sentence has created a tense feeling in Congress circles throughout India, and the Bombay Provincial Congress Committee passed a resolution urging the forthcoming Congress session at Karachi to restart civil disobedience if the men are executed. Gandhi has asked that all Congress demonstrations at Karachi should cease if the men are executed, and there is a possibility that the session will be abandoned. Considerable unrest prevailed in Lahore this afternoon when the appeals were rejected. All shops have been closed as a protest.
COMMUNAL RIOTS.

RUGBY, March 23
The House of Commons to-day attributed the recent communal disturbances to baseless rumours that a Mohammedan, Zamindar, had given cow's flesh to a Hindu servant. Sixty arrests were made and an adequate police force wae now on the spot. No renewal of the disturbances was expected.

Replying to several questions in. the House of Commons regarding the present position of the Indian boycott, the Secretary for India, Captain "Wedgwood Benn, paid he was asking the Government of India for a full statement which would be communicated to members.
Questioned as to the effect on the textile industry of the recent YiceroyGa'iidhi agreement, Captain Bcnn replied: "I think it will be better to be patient and sec how trade progresses."
