RACING AT AWAPUNI.

THE SECOND DAY. MY OWN SURPRISES. CADLAND AGAIX SUCCESSFUL

The autumn meeting of the Manawatu Racing Club was concluded yesterday. The weather was very windy at the commencement, and later showers fell. There was a fair attendance, and the sum of £ 14,061 was put through the machine, compared with £25,343 for the corresponding day last year, a decrease of £11,279. This made* a total for the meeting of £29,817, against £51,358 for the previous autumn fixture, a decrease of £21,541. The Hurdles. Tenacre, Conjurer and Disrank were the scratchings for the Kairanga Hurdles, and Full Mark (£241), Royal Acre (£194) and Hymgrea-t (£162) were best backed. Hymgieat was the early leader from Airtight, Goblin Market. Tunbridge, Royal Acre and Full Mark. Along the back Royal Acre took charge and led into the straight from Hymgreat, Goblin Market, Airtight and Full Mark, and went on to win by three lengths from Hymgreat, who beat Full Mark by two lengths. Then came Goblin Market, Airtight and Tunbridge. A Good Finish. All went to the post for the Lockwood Handicap, and Kozan (£696), Knollmerc (£321) and Glenrossie (£251) were the popular fancies. When the field settlec down Knollmere was in front, followed by Navaho, Kozan, Coroner, Winsome Hind, Leisure, Golden Shadow, Infusion, Glenrossie and Rapallo. Gleiirossic got' interfered with, and lost some ground when the top was reached. Knollmere, NavaliQ and Kozan were almost on terms as they turned for home, with Leisure and Glenrossie handy. In a good finish Knollmere got the decision by a head from Kozan, who beat Glenrossie by a similar distance. Then came Navaho. Puriri Park, Leisure. Golden Shadow, Rapallo, and Prime Moutda. My Own Wins. Limerick, Ofcairi, Bright Glow and Mount Shannon were the defections from the Tamatete Handicap, and Toxeuma (£516), Royal Parade (£313) and Ball Dress (£240) were most in demand, while My Own and Pahu were at good prices. The latter won this race last year. Royal Parade. Bail Dress, Toxeuma and Pahu were the first to show out, and along the back the order was Ball Dress and Kahikatoa together, followed by Pahu, Royal Parade, Toxeuma, My Own, Moutoa Treasury, Chopin, Mountain Heath, Merry Mint, and Shrewd. There was little alteration across the top, and Ball Dress and Kahikatoa were first to turn for home from Pahu, My Own, Royal Parade, Toxeuma and Moutoa Treasury. Own then came through, and stayed on to win by a length from Pahu, who beat Moutoa Treasury by a neck. Then came Mountain Heath, Chopin, Toxeuma, Ball Dress and Royal Parade. Stonyhurst Handicap. Blue Paper was the only defection from the Stonyhurst Handicap, and Chrysology (£278), Refresher (£260) and Playground (£232) were best backed in a good betting race. Paratoo showed out early from Fitzquex, Chrysology, Refresher and Playground. Chrysology wae in front as they crossed the top from Paratoo, Just an Idea and Kefresher. Chrysology led into the straight from Paratoo, Refresher, Just an Idea and Playground. Just an .Idea then shot to the front and went on 'to score by two- and a half lengths from Paratoo. with Paitonu a head away. Then came Chrysology, Atholspear and Refresher. The Stakes. Lady Quex (£708) was favourite for the Manawatu Stakes, with Supremacy (£276) and Consent next in request, aud they finished in that order. Consent led along the back from Lady Quex, Pakitere and Cricket Bat. Pakitere was in charge across the top from Teller, Consent, Lady Quex, Cricket Bat and Supremacy. Pakitere was first into the straight from Consent, Lady Quex, La Poupee, Teller and Supremacy. Lady Quex then forged her way through, while Supremacy came fast on the outside, Lady Quex winning by three-quarters of a length from Supremacy, who beat Consent by a length. ■Then came Pakitere, Cricket Bat, Teller, j La Poupee and Aspian, who did not get too good a run. The Juveniles. Top Flier was the only .scratching for the CloVerlea Nursery Handicap, and View Halloa was favourite, being entrusted with £500, while Columba and Eastertime also had good support. The favourite led all the way. Entering the straight he was attended by Royal Hunting, Lotus Lily, Gallant Fox, Gold Pit and Eastertime. The latter made a great effort to catch View Halloa, but failed by two lengths. Lotus Lily was a short head away third, and then came Royal Hunting, Peter Jackson, Gallant Fox, Movietone and Gold Pit. The Adderstone Handicap. The Adderstone Handicap was a great race, with the big field bunched at the home turn, where Laconic, Shatter, Pewa, Warzone, ' Brambletorn, Nightmare, AiTowhead, Jayson and Crennatown were in a heap, but Cessation came with a great run from behind to beat another big outsider, Arrowhead, by three parts of a length. Right up were Pewa, Little Doubt, Jenny Diver, Crennatown, Laconic and Nightmare. . Won Brilliantly. Cadland won the Telegraph Handicap brilliantly. He made a fast run crossing the top, and quickly collared the leaders, Royal Routine, Just ; an Idea and True Shaft, to win comfortably by three parts of , a length from White Fang, who finished fast to cut Just an Idea out of second money. True Shaft, Sight Draft, Arrow Lad and Royal Routine followed. Results:— EAIRANGA HL'RDLES of 1508OVS. One mile and three-quarters. 2—ROYAL ACRE, b ?. used, by Acre —Enroclyflon—Regret mam (Mr •T.
