CONSTABLE'S HAND INJURED.

WELLINGTON, this day.

Late on Saturday night or early on Sunday morning a young man'wEs caught in the act of tampering with a telephone box at Berhampore. He resisted the constable, whose hand was badly injured, and escaped in a cur, which was found later abandoned. About 2/ worth of pennies were in the back of the car.

The police believe that an organised gang of young men is operating on these lines in Wellington.
