BAFFLING FOR MARKSMEN.
McIVER LEADS FOR BELT
TRENTHAM, this day.
Typical Trentham sJiooting weather greeted marksmen this morning. A persistent strong fishtail wind baffled the competitors, and consequently the averages Buffered. The earlier shootists had to contend with a .bad light, Mclver holding the lead for the belt with 192, after the conclusion of the Canterbury match, while Nix, with the possible, was next with 190. Masefield and Simmonds improved their positions. With such adverse conditions crashes are expected this afternoon at the long ranges.
Results are:— Trontham Aggregate, awarded for the highest aggregate at the shorter rauges for the belt "series.—SO/, W. Mclver 102, -T. Nix 100; 40/, C. Pickering (Opaki) 186, Maselield 185, \V. H. West (Blenheim) 184.
Canterbury Match, 000 yds (possible 50).—100/, Xix (Featherston) 50; 80/, West: 60/. E. A. Ballinger (Petone) 47; 40/, A. Shaw (Wanganui) 40.
