NEW ZEALAND GOLF TITLES.
ARRANGEMENT OF TIME-TABLE. A special meeting of the New Zealand Golf Council was held on Friday morning, I March 20, to meet representatives of the > Cbristchurch Golf Club and discuss details in connection with the time-table, etc., for the championship meeting. The timetable was eventually decided upon as follows, this being a slight alteration from what was previously arranged:— Thursday and Friday, October 15 and 10 — The Open Championship. Saturday—Amateur Championship Foursomes and Professional Championship Foursomes (36 holes). Monday—First round of the Amateur Championship. Tuesday—Second and third rounds of 3 Amateur Championship. 5 Wednesday morning—The O'Rorke Vase Teams Match. (The course will be closed on Wednesday afternoon to prel pare for further matches.) ) Thursday—Fourth and fifth rounds of Amateur Championship. The semi-final of the Amateur Championship will be played on Friday, October 23, and the final on Saturday, October 24. With regard to restrictions of entries, it was decided that all professionals who are > members of a recognised professional j golfers' association may compete. As regards amateurs, the entries will be - limited to the lowest handicap amateurs 1 who enter equal in number to the pro- , tessionals who have entered, but in no case shall there he fewer than 20 amateurs ' accepted. If necessary, the last places lor . amateurs will be drawn by lot. t It was resolved to hold the annual meeting of delegates at the Chamber of Commerce rooms, Christchurch, on Tuesday evening, October 20, at 8 o"cloek.
MAUNGAKIEKIE CLUB.
The Maungakiekie Golf Cluo held its opening day on Saturday in brilliant weather. Th« course was in excellent order. There was a good entry for the medal handicap, the leading scores being: R. Cleghorn. 80—14—72 ; W. F. Darby, 02 —18—74; H. Morpeth. 88—14—74; A. F Ellis. 03—18—7.5; A. Ely, 89—12—77; J. M. Elliffe, 92—14—78.
AUCKLAND CLUB.
Members of the Auckland Golf Club played a bogey match at Middlemore on Saturday. Thirty-three players competed. Following were the best cards returned :— VV. G. Borrie (7), 2 up; A. M. Howden (7), all square; \V. S. Ralph (1), 1 down; W. B. Colbeck (0), 1 down; K. O. Wright (1), 2 down; F. Macky (4), 2 down; W. Wilson (9), 3 down.

The first round of the handicap match play tourney for the Hope Lewis Cup will be played on Tuesday week.

The links were opened for the season on Saturday, when mixed bogey foursomes were played. The president, Mr. J. A. Thomson, performed the opening ceremony by driving a ball from the first tee. The game resulted in a tie between Mrs. A. 11. Gillies and T. Goudie and Miss M. Robson and F. Price, who returned cards of two up. The players were the guests of the president and Mrs. Thomson to afternoon tea. The remaining good cards returned were:—Miss K. Morton and E. G. Tallis. 1 up; Mr. and Mrs. Deighton, 1 up: Miss R. Cornaga and V. Humphreys, 1 down ; Mrs. Goudie and R. McCrystal, 1 down; Mrs. R. L. Wilson and A. Joplin, 8 down ; and Miss Wright and W. R. Vercoe, 3 down.
WHANGAREI CLUB. I
The annual meeting of (he Whan-'arei Golf Club was held on Friday. The report and balance-sheet showed that the past season had been most successful and a good credit balance remained. , Officers, etc., were elected as follow: — *■ President, Mr. R. G. Reeve and Miss Hearty, 59— 15—44. Three competitors tied for second place, one stroke behind the winners. They were:—L. J. Minogue and Mrs. Mills, 5S— 13—45; F. H. Mingay and Miss Stevens 51 —6 —45 ; Les. Harrison and Mrs. England, 57—12—45. The next best cards were :—H. Gould and Miss McDonnell, 59— tM—4li; T. Brett and Miss A. U'M'il!, 58 —10—48: R.
