OBITUARY.

MR. R. A. WATSON.

The sudden death last week of Mr. Robert Alexander ("Alick") Watson, at the age of 57 years, removed one who took a keen interest in sport. In Ins younger days he played football ror the Ponsonby and Thames Clubs and later in life was treasurer for the former. He was at one tune an enthusiastic vachtsman and belonged to the Roval Squadron and also the ionsonby Cruising Club. At one time he was "part owner of the yacht Pen and later of the Doris.

Some years ago Mr. Watson went fanning in the Okoroire district and after he gold" that property, purchased another one at Wellsford. For about three years he had lived at Epsom. Mr. Watson was a member of the Working Mens Club, and is survived by his wife and three children.

MR. TOM FARQUHAR

Notice was received in Auckland on Saturday of the death at Thursday Island of Mr. Tom Farquhar, late of Auckland. He was a son of the late Captain William Farquhar, for many years commodore of the Northern Company's fleet, and in his younger days was a prominent athlete, being especially prominent in rowing. For many years he held the sculling championship of Auckland until he was beaten by E. Bailey. He was also prominent in the outrigger rowing, being one of the foundation members of the West End Rowing Club. He left for Australia in the 'eighties and resided at Sydney, Melbourne and Queensland. About 30 years ago he took up his residence at Thursday Island, where he was engaged in tbe pearl fishing industry.

Mr. Farquhar, who was about .67, leaves a wife and one son, his eldest son having been killed in the Great War. He has three sisters and two brother jresiding in New Zealand.
