BOWLING.

TE AROHA V. THAMES,

Six rinks from the Te Aroha Bovsling Club motored to Thames on Saturday and played an inter-club match. The weather was fine and the greens keen, consequently a most enjoyable afternoon was spent. Included in the visiting players was a challenge rink for the Goldtields fetars, won by Thames from Paeroa recently, Upon arrival at the green Mr. E. J. Clendon. vice-president, cordially welcomed the visitors, and before returning to Te Aroha Mr. G. Hedge" returned thanks to the members of the Thames Club for the hospitality extended to the visitors. The inter-club match resulted in a win for Thames by 14S points to 99.

Great interest was taken in the, contest for the Goldfields Stars, the holders, Boyle Strange, Orbell and Smith, being defeated by Bliss. Rosenfeldt, R. Buchan and D. Wallace by 24 to IG. The challengers got a good break on the holders by winning the first five heads, the board reading 10 to nil. Although the holders gained a few heads they were unable to equal the score, Smith having on numerous occasions to kill the head, and making the game a long one. The contest ended on the 20th head, the stars being handed over to, the winners amidst applause.

Buchan 12. v. Chilton. Clendon. Johns, Pelamore 20: Cryer. Stuck, Ooekran. Joll 22, v. Jackson, McCullough. Millington. H. Cordes 2C: Petry, Goldsbury, Stuck. Bath 14. v. Wallace, Bongard. Murray, Alexander 23: Pilkington, Rowe, Powell, Ilinton 10, v. Wilson, Lloyd, Buchan, Clark 32.

THAMES MEMORIAL BADGES. The contest for the Thames Memorial Badges between Taylor, Graham, Cartwright, Gordon (holders) and Mutton, Tlosking, Shand. Pratt (challengers) resulted in a draw, the holders therefore retaining the trophies. A wonderful recovery was made by Gordon, who scored seven in the last five heads and equalled the score.
