OPERATIONS AT WAIHI. PUBLIC BATTERY WANTED. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") WAIHI, this day. Efforts are being made in the direction of seeking assistance from the Government in connection with the establishment of a public crushing plant at Owharoa. It :s proposed to bring the old Rising Sun battery up to date, which, with the Rising Sun mine, is now owned by the Golden Dawn Company. Recently 500 tons of tre from the mine was put through the Waihi Company's cattery at Waikino, the result averaging £3 17/6 per ton. If the necessary assistance is forthcoming, the mine e-jn tlien be worked at full strength, in addition to crushing and treating parcels of ore brought in by prospectors and others. Should the arrangements be completed, the mining industry in this dis trict will receive a. badly needed impetus.
