U.S. CAR MAKERS. OTTAWA, February 28. "You must manufacture your motor cars in Canada." This is virtually the ultimatum issued by the Bennett Government to United States manufacturers. General Motors, Ford, and several other makers already build cars for the Canadian trade in Canada, but last year £5,000,000 worth of more expensive cars .were imported from the United States. The new duties "will be almost prohibitive, and many manufacturers announce that they must decide whether to close their Canadian agencies or build branch factories in Canada.
