Matches at Eden and Epsom.

Club matches at the Eden and Epsom Club are fairly well advanced, but will have to be kept moving if the finals are to be played this month. In the men's singles Morrison, Potter, Hubble and R. Walton are the sole survivors. H. C. Rowlands, whose health has not been good this season, defaulted in the top quarter of the draw, thus giving Walton an easy run through to the quarter final, where he meets V. N. Hubble. The winner of these plays P. E. Potter, who_ reached _ the semi-final through a straight-set victory over V. R. Johns last Saturday. This is Potter's third victory over Johns this year, one of the others being in the Auckland championship, while the second was a handicap affair. Morrison has already reached the final on the other side of the draw; he beat Turner in the quarter-final and A. C. Johns (in three straight sets) in the semi-final. Morrison should be a warm favourite for the event.

In the men's doubles McKeown and Potter have reached the final on one half of the draw; they defeated Sparling and Radcliffe in three straight sets in the semi-final on Saturday This latter pair had staged a surprise victory over Hubble and Turner in the precediug round. On the other side of the draw Morrison and Rowlands, Johns and Johns, and the brothers Wilson are still in. The event is still an open one.

The ladies' singles now vests between Mrs. Dykes, and Miss Ramsay (in the top half), and MTss Knight and Miss Miller (in the lower half). Miss Newton was beaten by Mrs. Dykes, G —3, 4 —(3, 15—1. Mrs. Dykes must be considered to have the most chance in this event. The ladies' doubles still has three pairs left —Misses Knight and Wliitelaw play Misses Ramsay and Miller in tha top half of the draw, and the winners meet Mrs. Dykes and Miss Newton In the final. There have been no surprises in this event. The mixed doubles is still open, Miss Ramsay and Morrison, Miss Wliitelaw and Turner, Miss Miller and A. C. Johns, ancl Miss Knight and V. R. Johns all being still left in.
