MOTOR CYCLING.
SPORTS CLUB TRIALS. WAIHEKE ISLAND PROPOSED. Considerable discussion arose at a meeting of the Sports Motor Cycle Club last jiight over a proposal to hold test trials annually for the purpose of selecting riders to represent their respective centres or the Dominion when called upon. For the Auckland trials Warheke Island, was suggested as the suitable place, and a motion to the effect that the club endeavour to have the event established, and made an annual one, was adopted.
The secretary, Mr. H. B. Fletcher, suggested that a committee be elected there and then to interview members of the Ostend Road Board with a view to securing the spot desired, and making the necessary preparations for the competitions. It was suggested by Mr. D. M. Robinson that two races be held, but no definite decision was reached.' Nor could a suitable entrance fee be decided upon, but the suggestion of a guinea met with the satisfaction of most members. The committee appointed comprised Messrs. H. B. Fletcher, A. Boughtwood, D. M. Robinson and G. Howlett, who will make the trip to Waiheke on Sunday. A motion that a letter be sent to the N.Z.A.U.C. by the club, registering its disapproval of the arbitrary manner in which the A.U.C. had selected the team to represent New Zealand in the Isle of Man T.T. races was carried without a dissentient voice.
