Showers, which commenced in the morn • ing, continued throughout the day. The track was sodden and perform ances were noticeably affected. Features of the meeting were tli. 100 yds championship, which G. SinnZ ' (America) won in 10 l-ss, and nutt n! the shot, in which H. Bothert (aSSK broke the New Zealand record with i distance of 46ft Din, which was BJin better than the previous record. Rothert also won the javelin throw with a di« tance of 171 ft siin. s " R. A. The Lvnndale Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club held its fifth meeting of the season on its ground at New Lynn on Saturday. The weather, although dull, was perfect for running events, and the handful of spectators were treated to some fine racing. The races formed the fifth of a series of seven, for which points arc given. Results arc :—• 100 Yards Handicap.—J. Bracewell (9yds), 1; H. Greep (9yds), 2; L. C. Barker (9yds), 3. Time, 10s. Won by inches. Putting the 161b Shot. —L. C. Barker (4ft), 30ft 2Jin, 1; J. P. Dolan (7ft 6in), 29ft SJin, 2; V. It. Walker (oft Gin), 29ft 4iin, 3. H. Greep, on scratch, threw 27ft OJin, the best throw. .Half-mile Handicap.—F. L. Whitten (15yds), 1; L. C. Barker (scr), 2; S. Andrews (60yds), 3. Time, 2m 0 3-ss. Barker was conceding the others too much but put in a great run in the straight to finish second, being beaten by a couple of feet. Long Jump.—A. E. Clayton (3ft 6m), 20ft OJin, 1; G.
