ON RUSSIAN IMPORTS.

Soviet Forced Labour Methods

Displease Canada.

CABINET DECISION.

(United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright)

(Received 12 noon.)

OTTAWA, February 27.

The importation into Canada from Soviet Russia of coal, Avoodpulp, pulpwood and lumber timber of all kinds, asbestos and furs was prohibited by Order-in-Council on Friday. The Minister of National Revenue, Mr. E. B. Ryckman, made the announcement following a Cabinet meeting.

The Government, Mr. Byckman declared, Avas convinced that there was forced labour in the cutting and transport of timber and in the mining of coal, that political prisoners were exploited and the standard of living below any level conceived of in Canada.

Broadly speaking, all employment was in control of the Communist Government, which regulates all conditions and seeks to impose its will upon the whole world. "This is Communism, its creed and its fruits which we as a country oppose and must refuse to support by the interchange of trade," he said.
