WRECK OP MAIL TRAIN FAILS

BRISBANE,, this day.

An abortive attempt was made to wreck a mail train, which was also carrying shearers near Barcaldine. The fishplate bolts were removed and the dog spikes drawn. Shearing is in full swing at Longreach and Barcaldine, and the strike has been declared off in Blackall and Cunnainulla districts.
