PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD.
The regular meeting of the Papakura Town Board was held last evening, Mr. H. L. Thornton presiding. Stray Stock. —Complaints were received of stock straying around the grass roads of the town, and damage to property was also reported. _ The board decided to take immediate action, and the traffic committee was empowered to act in the matter of appointing a temporary ranger. Reserves.—The board decided to form a crossing across the ditch in the Northern Reserve giving access to the property, and invite tenders for the lease of the property at an upset rental to be arranged. The committee recommended that, in the absence of any definite reply from the Commissioner of Crown Lands authorising the drainage of the scenic reserve, the work be proceeded with from Clarke Road as far as Beach Road, men employed under No. 5 scheme to be engaged, and the board to find the cost of the pipes. The board decided to adopt the recommendation, and the work will be proceeded with. Lighting of Fires. —The board instructed the clerk to type notices to be placed in windows drawing the public's attention to the by-laws regarding the lighting of fires after 6 p.m., and the fire brigade members were given power to enforce the by-law.
