SOCIAL GATHERINGS.
About sixty guests were present at the Masonic Hall, Arthur Street, Ellerslie, 011 Thursday, when Miss Eunice Nutt, L.A.8., gave a musical evening. Miss .Nutt and the following' played 1 solo pieces: Misses Peggy Billings, Ngaire Birclifield, Peggy Caldecott, Elaine Court and Marion I oixl, and pianoforte duets were given by Miss Elaine Court and Miss Nutt, and Master lan Woolley and Miss Nutt. At the close of the evening Miss Nutt was presented with bouquets. * * * * The Haeremai branch of the Oddfellows' -Lodge, held a flannel dance in the Kumeu Hall on Saturday evening, in aid of the Hawke's Bay earthquake fund. The evening proved a very popular function, the large attendance including visitors from all. the surrounding districts. Popular music was supplied byClark's Novelty Pour Orchestra, extras being played by Mr. C. Milligan. The gentlemen had complete charge of the supper arrangements, and much credit is due to them for the excellent supper provided. A Monte Carlo waltz competition caused much amusement, and was won by Miss Lesley Bell and Mr. J. Sealey, The proceeds, which amounted to nearly £12. will be forwarded for "immediate distribution.
