DUNEDIN'S RETURN.
ALTERATIONS IN PROGRAMME
VISIT TO RUSSELL.
H.M.s. Dunedin returned to Auckland from Napier at 3 p.ip. yesterday and berthed alongside the Diomede at the Sheerlegs wharf at 3.30 pjn.
Owing to the cancellation of the cruiso to Hobart and the exercises with the Australian Squadron, and also on account of the damage to the Veronica, the programme of the cruisers the two sloops has been greatly disorganised. Both cruisers will sail on Tuesday evening next for Russell, and while there the commodore will transfer his flag to the Diomede. The Dunedin will probably sail on February 28 for Sydney, en route to England to refit. The Diomede will then carry out exercises in the Hauraki Gulf and a short New Zealand cruise before going to Wellington, where the crew will undergo a course of musketry in April.
Special leave of 48 hours lias been granted the Royal Marines.
