SAMOA'S GRIEVANCES.
The suggestion of "H.H." that the Govern. :v ment should make amends for its blunderin* methods in Samoa before it is too late is - indeed a wise one. The attempt to rale the proud Samoans by military methods has been a sad failure and Ave should now follow the example set by the Imperial Government in respect to India. Grant a general amnesty, to all those suffering from our policies and invite the leaders of the discontented majority ' of the Samoarus to a Round Table Conference. T in Wellington. If the Samoans wish to have ? Mr. Nelson or anyone else as one of their delegates their wish should be allowed. Mr. Nelson is as much a Samoan as the late Sir Maui Pomare and Sir James Carroll were ■ Maoris and Gandhi an Indian. There are many thousands of New Zealanders besides the 79 signatories to the appeal to Parliament who - consider the Samoan question should be submitted to an impartial inquiry so as to render to the Samoans that justice which is due to them and so save the fair fame of New Zealand.
