PEACHES STILL PLENTIFUL MUSHROOMS AVAILABLE. GOOD LOCAL APPLE SUPPLY. Peaches continue plentiful at present, aud the quality,is good. All varieties are meeting with good inquiry.' Nectarines are also plentiful. A few local Bon Chretien pears have come to hand, while quantities from Hawke's Bay are increasing. Both are selling well. Dessert plums are scarcer than is usual at this time of the year, and values are ruling high. , . Local apples are coming forward in satisfactory supply, and good coloured Gravensteins realise a fair price. A pood j number of windfalls are being sent in, but are hard to sell. Hothouse grapes are l'n poor demand, and prices axe by no'means high. In the past week mushrooms have been fairly plentiful, but have eased eased off to-day. There has been a very good market, though prices to-day show an easing tendency. Strawberries are practically finished, only an odd crate or two making their appearance. Market values are:—Strawberries: 3d to 1/ chip. Blackberries: 6d to 7d chip. Mushrooms: 1/ to 1/4 lb. Grapes: Hothouse, 9d to 1/ lb. Peaches: Special packs, 7/ to 9/; Wiggins, 4/ to 4/; Paragon, 3/6 to 5/0; Carmen, 4/ to 5/; others, 3/6 to 4/. 'Lomatoes: No. 1, good condition, 2/3 to 3/ case; No. 2's and others, 1/ to 2/. Apricots: Otago, 4/ to 7/. Lemons: 10/ to 14/; others, 6/ to 9/. Pears: Bon Chretien, local, 7/ to 8/6; Hawke's Bay, 8/ lo 9/. Oranges, Californian, 32/ to 33/. Grapefruit, Californian, 31/. Plums: Burbanks, 3/ to 4/6; Sultans, 4/ to 6/; Satsumas, 4/ to 6/; Purple King, 6/ to 9/. Apples: Gravenstein, good coloured, 8/ to 10/; No. 2's, 5/ to 7/; small sizes, all varieties, 3/ up; Albany Beauty, 6/ to 10/; Scarlet Pearmain, 4/ to 6/6; Astrachan, 4/ to 7/; Willie Sharp, 4/ to 4/6; wimftalls and others, 2/ to 3/. Bananas: Bushel ripe, No. l's, 18/' to 22/'; medium, 14/; No.. 2's, 10/3. Potatoes from Rangitiki. Very little change is reported in the vegetable market, the demand for most lines remaining about the same as last reported. Potatoes, green peas, lettuce, and French beans still remain plentiful, with a fairly steady demand. Cucumbers and new season's marrows are in good supply. There is a fair quantity of celery on the market, and prices arc poor. There is practically no sale at all for rhubarb, on account of the fact that most lines of stone fruit are available. Prices are:—Potatoes: New, 3/ to 4/3 bag. Onions: Local, 4/ to 4/6. Ivuniaras: Tauranga, 9/ to 10/ cwt. Cabbage: 3/ to 5/ sack. Swedes: 2/ to 2/6 bag. Pumpkins: 6/ to 11/ cwt. Green peas: 5/ to 8/ bag. Beans: 1/6 to 2/6 bag. Lettuce: 1/ to 5/ ease. Cucumbers: Hothouse, 1/ to 1/6 dozen; outdoor, 6d to 2/6. Vegetable marrows: 1/6 to 2/6; cabbage, on benches, 1/ to 2/. Celery: 1/ to 2/3 bundle; Rhubarb: 9d to 1/3 dozen. Spinach: 1/ dozen. Pumpkins: On benches, 4d to 2/ each. Radish: 6d to 1/ dozen. Spring onions: 3d to 9d bundle. Carrots, parsnips, beet, and turnips, 6d to 1/3 dozen. Egg Prices Steady. There is no alteration in egg prices since last report. Supplies are becoming shorter, and demand is only moderate. Current prices of first quality hen eggs are: Special grade, 1/11 a dozen; A grade, 1/10; B grade, 1/8; C -grade, 1/3. Duck eggs: Special grade, 1/10 per dozen; A grade, 1/0; B grade, 1/8; C grade, 1/5. Butter is fetching from 8d to lid per lb. Poultry. At to-day's auctions the supply of poultry was heavy and the demand was fair. The prices paid were level. Selling rates were as follow:—Cockerels: Heavy breeds, prime 3/6 to 5/6 each, not prime 1/6 up; light breeds, prime 2/6 to 3/6, not prime 1/ upT Fat roosters: Heavy breeds, prime, 2/ to 2/6; light breeds, 1/6 to 2/6. Tat hens: Heavy breeds, 2/6 to 3/6; light breeds, 1/9 to 2/6.. Pullets: Heavy breeds, best 5/ to 6/, smaller 2/6 up; light breeds, best 5/ to 7/, smaller 2/6 up. Drakes: Young, prime, 2/6 to 3/; smaller, 1/6 up. ■ Ducks: Young, 3/6 to 4/6; oldy 2/ to 3/. Drakes: Old, 1/6 to 2/6. Geese: 4/ to 5/.
