hawke cup match. WAIKATO V. SOUTH CANTERBURY. A challenge match was commenced at Sedflon Park, Hamilton, yesterday, between Waikato, the holders, and South Canterbury. Waikato batted first and scored 200 (S. A. R. Badeley 65, A. J. Aitken 43, R. Skeet 32). Mcßeath took four wickets for 66 runs, McDougall four for 54, Dans two ior 15. , . South Canterbury was dismissed for the small total of 72 runs (J. A. Kane 27). Going took five wickets for 22 runs, Badeley three for 33, Smith two for 14. Waikato opened its second innings and had scored 21 runs without loss when stumps were drawn. The match was continued to-day. \
