FATALITY AT MAKETU. YOUNG CRIPPLE'S FATE. FALL FROM FISHING LAUNCH." (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TE PUKE, this' day. A young man, Mr. Ned Corbett, of Maketu, lost his life by drowning at Maketu yesterday afternoon. Mi*. Corbett was returning by launcli from the fishing grounds at Motiti Island, when the fatality occurred. He was accompanied by Mr, R. "Walters. The launch . 'was crossing the' bar at Maketu when a rope slipped over, the end of the launch and became caught in the exhaust pipe. Mr. Corbett went to investigate, but while attempting to free the rope a wave caught tin: iumieli and he overbalanced. ' He was thrown into the surf, and, being a cripple with a wooden leg, was unable to Swim. ' 'Mr. Walters dived, fully clothed, to his fescue, but was unable to lind the body, which has not yet been recovered. -
