STRANGE CHARGE.
THEFT BY TRICKERY ALLEGED
YOUNG MAN REMANDED,
Arrested last evening by DetectiveSergeant Martin, Frederick Joseph Hud-, dleston, aged 22, was. brought before Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M., this morning, on an unusual charge. . (
He was charged with stealing £50 belonging to Cecil Henry Battley by means of a trick, that the £50 was paid on shares in New Zealand Traders' Bookkeepers' Service, Ltd:, to be allotted Battley.
Detective-Sergeant Kelly, in obtaining a week's remand, said other charges were pending against accused.
Huddleston, for whom Mr. W. Noble appeared, was allowed bail in one suretv of £100.
