The adoption of preferential voting exactly similar to the Australian system, the abolition of double electorates, University seats,, and plural voting, except in the city of London 5 the restiiction of the use of vehicles, and the reduction of election expenses, are among the chief points in the Government's new amending Electoral Reform Bill.
THIEF IN HIDING.
STOLE £400 IN MELBOURNE.
MELBOURNE, January 16,
A thief hid in a storeroom on the premises of Messrs. James Marsh and Sons, North Melbourne. He waited until the girl cashier had gone to luncheon and then stole a sum of £400. _ The intruder escaped by lowering -himself down a rope from the second storey to the street, where a motor car was awaiting him.
