INCIDENT AT TEPID BATHS,

There was a strange incident at tlie Tepid Baths yesterday afternoon during the endurance swim of Miss Mercedes Gleitze. Giving as his only warning a shout of "I'Jl dive in and keep you company," a seaman named Norman McDonald, aged 43, leapt into the water fully dressed. He refused to come out when called to, and. had. to be forcibly removed from the water by the custodian, who unceremoniously grabbed him by the scruff of the neck, After his removal, the man had a fit, and marked his revival by a demonstration of violence that required several men to subdue.

Appearing in the Police Court this morning, McDonald admitted charges of being disorderly while drunk, and resisting Constable' Smith. He was fined £2, in default two weeks' imprisonment.
