RIVER TRUST'S DIIjEMMA. DIFFICULTIES OVER FINANCE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. At a meeting of the Taieri River Trust it was stated in reply to a letter from the Minister of Public Works (Hon. W. B. Taverner) regarding the repayment of a loan for £76,000 that, with the return for primary produce reduced -by half, Taieri farmers could not pay the heavy drainage rate assessed and the trust could not carry on. It was resolved that a deputation should wait on the Minister and" explain the position.
