BLAZE AT OItONGO
OCCUPANTS' HURRIED EXIT
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ] THAMES, this day. At 1.45 o'clock this morning the resi* deuce of Mr. C. Pearce, a farmer, of Orongo, Hauraki Plains, was totally destroyed by fire. Mr. Pearce was awakened by. some, thing falling, &ncl found. th&fc the house was m flames.. He aroused bis wife and four children, who just managed to escape in their night attire. _ A strong wind was blowing at the time, and the building was soon a raging furnace. Nothing was saved. ' > It is understood that the building is insured, but details in this connection are at present unavailable. Mr. Pearce, however, is a licavv loser.
