SILVER COOT SPELLING.
CANDIDATES FOR TRENTHAM. COMPRIS AND ABERFELDY DOING WELL. - $ (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Most of the Riccarton horses "who were racing in the North Island during the holidays have arrived home. They arc all having an easy time for a few clays, after which they will ho ytriding along again, as a number of them will be wanted for a trip to Trentham. G. Murray-Aynsley has Footfall Spoon, Meprisant and Karuka looking in the best of health after their holiday racing in the South. They are not doing much at present, but will be moving along again shortly. Probably this stable M ill have a team for the Dunedin Cup meeting next month. M. G. Hobbs has Juniper and the imported filly. Humility, doing a lot of useful work, and they may be ready to show good form at thq Canterbury Jockey Club's sumjner meeting next month. Moorbird and her sister Autumn Bird, by The Ace from Moorfowl, arc two other members 'of Jfobbs' team who are going on the right way. F. Christmas has the two-year-old brother to Red Heckle doing easy exercise at present! but he will start to send the youngster along in serious tasks shortly, with a view to racing him about' Easter time. The three-year-old Ho*, by Martian from Contempt, gave himself a knock a few weeks ago, and as the leg filled G. Murray-Aynsley found it necessary to give him a. spell, and hie' first public appearance will have to be delayed. The two-year-olds Dollar Raid, by Night Raid from Dollar Piece, and Ma Bell Polly, by polazel from Bendown, in Mrs. J. Campbell's stable, are going along steadily in their work. on the Riccarton tracks, and they shape like being useful performers. They may be raced at the Canterbury Jockey Club's summer meeting next month, but they will not be at their best until later in the season. Straight Course had five hard races during his holiday trip to the North Island, and though he came through the cai,. f iaigii very well, he has earned a rest. Jlis two successes put him out of hack class, but he should continue to pay his way in open company later on. Silver Coot showed signs of soreness during his holiday trip to the North Island, and G. J. Pine has turned him out for a spell. Flair is at present enjoying a rest, but its deration has not been settled. It is possible that she will not be peresevered with much longer ass a racing proposition. Compvis looks none the worse for his racing at the Dunedin and Waikouaiti meetings. He is in steady work at Riccarton, and he may make a. trip to Trcnttam this month. R. W. King is keeping Aberfeldy going in useful tasks. He has been nominated for the high-weignt events at Trentiiam, where he may race prominently, as he is in excellent order >at piesent. Minerval showed improved form during his holiday trip to the West Coast, and F. Christmas has hopes that he will develop into a. very useful horse. Ho may make his next appearance at Trentham.
