"HOW HUMAN!"

King George and Queen Mary as Grandparents.

WHAT MR. J. H. THOMAS SAW-

(Received 9.30 a.m.) LONDON", January 4. A charming glimpse of King George's tome life was given by Mr. J. H. Tliomas, Secretary for the Dominions, in a speech at Newport when referring to his New Year visit to Sandringham. "The feature which impressed me most," Mr. Thomas said, "was when I had an audience with the King on State affairs and the Queen entered with little Elizabeth and asked, 'Would you mind? We want the Princess to wish her grandpa goodnight.' "How human and natural and similar to ourselves," the Dominions Secretary continued. "When his grandchild comes to the King he is no longer a King but just a grandfather like myself, a grandfather who has four grandchildren."
