ANGLICAN BIBLE CLASSES

' BISHOP BENNETT PRESENT,

The annual encampment of members of Church of England Bible classes in New Zealand, held this year at Pukekolie, has been, brought to a successful conclusion. A notable part of the programme was a series of addresses, spread over three days, by Bishop Bennett on the work of the Church among the Maoris, and a brief address on the work of the Melanesian Mission by the Rev. R. C. Rudgard of All Hallows School, Ugi, British Solomon Islands. Vi si tore to the camp included Captain Squires, of the Church Army, and Canon Fancqurt, of St. Mary's Cathedral. Auckland. ' The annual conference of the New Zealand Anglican Bible Class Union n-as presided over by the Rev. Stephen Parr, of Christchurch, the retiring - president. Wellington was chosen as the locatiou cf the Dominion executive during this year and officers were elected as follow: President, the Rev. P. Houghton; presidents, the Rev. N. S. Barnett and Mr. A; E. Stone; joint secretaries, Messrs. P. Froud and L. Sharp; treasurer',. Mr. H. R. Hicks. It was decided to recommend to General Synod that Diocesan directors of youth work tfe appointed to foster the Bible class movement. Sports competitions have comprised an important part of the activities cf the camp. . Cricket and tennis. tournaments were held between the North Island and the South Island members. The North Island were the winners in ■both cases. In athletics and swimmin°-, St. Jude's class, Lyall Bay, Wellington' won the senior championships, with St! Peter's, Upper Riccarton, Christchurch, runners-up. The junior championships were won by 1 Palmerston North. To-day the camp held a picnic at Clark's Beach, on the shores of the Manukan Harbour, 14 miles from Pukekohe._ This evening the camp concert is being held. The camp concludes tomorrow.
