CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT.

FIRST ROUND THIS MORNING
The first round of.post-section play in the Christmas tournament of the Auckland Centre took place on the Auckland Bowling Club's greens this morning, 21 rinks being qualified for further play out of the 62 originally competing. For the first hour the weather was decidedly cooler than it has been since the tournament commenced, but the effects of the light shower during the night soon wore off, and bright sunshine during most of the morning kept the greens-quite keen enough to ensure good play. The Auckland greens are m -beautiful condition this year, and the competitors thoroughly enjoyed their
games. ' , Played on the two-life system, with the automatic draw, five, of the ten rinks which lost this morning will be eliminated in the first round after lunch, leaving 16 to take part in the third round to be played to-day. Findlay. , THE DOMINION TOURNAMENT. Club committees are reminded that for the Dominion tournament, in addition to eight markers for each green when a section of the singles will be played, about seventeen green umpires will be required. Secretaries or individual volunteers are invited to notify the secretary, Mr. G. L. Gladding, mentioning at the same time if they are prepared to officiate where required, and not necessarily on their own.club's green. This evening Mr. H. W. Frost, who was a member of the party who competed in the Empire Games in Canada last August, will give an exhibition of moving .pictures taken during the tour. The demonstration will be given in the Carlton pavilion, commencing at 8 o'clock., Ladies are also invited.
