Synagogue Again Opened /in

Madrid.

AFTER MORE THAN 400 YEARS,

MADRID, December 28,

The lirst legally recognised synagogue since the .expulsion of the Jews in 1492 was oppned yesterday, with a congregation of 30 families.

The police representative read, out the protocol giving the provisional status of the congregation, which Ayas then signed by Senor Bauer, whose personal intervention with King Alfonso secured the recognition of the Jewish community. Beside the synagogue, a section of 4 the j2ivil: cemetery, at Seville, in spite of Church opposition, has been reserved for Jewish burials.
