SURPLUS STEADILY SHRINKS

LONDON, Dcccniber 25,

In a total-population of 45,900,000, there arc. 1,500,000 more women than men in the United Kingdom. The surplus of women in 1924 was 1,900,000. The population increased 200,000 in the year.

The surplus women arc nearly all in England and Wales, as Scotland has but a, small surplus. The sexes are equal in Northern. Ireland. It is estimated that if the excess of male births "continues the sexes will be about equal in numbers in 1937. .

The Free State 2,945,000.
